---Underwater Drama---

2004-01-29 - 11:09 p.m.

Well it's been a good week so far. One day left to go, and Friday is always an easy one. All I have to do is attend class. Now let's see...

Wednesday: I had a really full day yesterday. I started with classes. Then Lia met me for lunch (as she had a snow day at Holt) and we had some eats from the International Center (as I forgot my lunch at home). I worked on worksheet stuff until 3, when I had to give the sheet to my students. I met my cousin, Sam Harris, at 5 and we went over some Calc 1. We hit the Riv for dinner (our waitress was as slow as molasses), and then I dropped him off at Shaw Hall. I then headed straight for IM Circle for my first night of underwater hockey in two months. It was 6 on 5, and luckily I was on the team with six, so I was able to sit out a few points. On the first point that we scored (I scored it in the deep end) I thought that I was going to pass out in the pool. That didn't happen, and I made it through the rest of the night without any close calls. However, there were a couple of scrums of note. On one play,a girl was called for a foul. When the guy tried to explain what she did, they got short with each other and the girl started to cry. Amazing. So they settled that and we played on, until... On another play, some guy shot the puck and it hit a girl in the arm and rolled up into her face and she got pissed (at least this is what I gathered). They got into a huge shouting match where profanities were exchanged. It was unreal. One more outburst and MTV would have been offering us our own reality show. I can just see it, "The Real World: IM Circle." The latter fueders live in the same house, so things were bound to boil over, I suppose. I think that he has a thing for her, but she's dating some other dude who was also there. Whatever. I went to the Circle for a game and some excercise and I got a free show. So while the two were bitching at each other, the rest of us played around them. Afterwards I was totally beat. I was thinking about meeting the ladies out at Harper's (they were celebrating Christina's birthday) but there was no way I was going to make it. On the way home, I caught some of the MSU/Minnesota basketball game on the radio. I watched the rest when I got home and it was a thriller. With 2.8 seconds to go, State inbounded to Davis, who kicked it out to Ager who drilled a tying three. In OT, the Spartans won by a point. What a game. Then I collapsed in bed. Ahhhhhhhhh.

Thursday: Recitation in the morning. I had to get up early to prepare for it, as I hadn't looked at the quiz yet. Things went smoothly, and the students did pretty well. I ate my day old sandwich for lunch (a little soggy, but palatable). I worked on various things the rest of the afternoon, but my mind was on dinner. To celebrate the passing of the numerical qual, Ahmet, Lia, and myself went to dinner at Mongolian Barbeque. It was good and I had my fill (2 bowls was all I could stomach). Ahmet had some reservations about his food being cooked on the same grill as pig products (he's a Turkish Muslim), but he got over it, and we were pretty sure that if any was on there it was miniscule. For some reason, after we dropped Ahmet off, Lia and I went to Coldstone for dessert. We had a 2 for 1 coupon, and a woman's need for ice cream can not be denied. We were able to take our leftovers home (thank goodness, the creation was enormous!). We came back to the apartment and looked at some Strong Bad stuff and then she had to take off. And that brings me here.

Looks like Pudge may be only a day away from signing with the Tigers. The saga has been going on for some time and I'd just like there to be some closure. Something funny, on a Yahoo poll, the two choices for the question "What do you think of Pudge signing with the Tigers?" were: 1)It's a good career move. 2)What the heck is he thinking? Now this poll is pretty biased, in that your only alternative to "what the heck" is that it's a good career move. I wouldn't say it's a great career move for any star in the majors (let's hope I'm wrong).

Time for bed. Lia is in Grand Blanc this weekend, so I need to find a way to entertain myself. I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Song currently on WinAmp: "Invincible" by Pat Benetar. This is playing off one of my Sounds of the 80's CD's. It is a quality Time-Life collection. The CD's are a bit pricey, but each disc has a ton of songs that I'd never buy on their own, so I figure it's worth it.
