---Triplicate---

2004-02-24 - 12:42 a.m.

So it's another Monday evening, and the days of my life continue to roll on. This past week was a good one. One I wouldn't mind living again someday (especially since I'm sure that I'm due for some crappy weeks). Lent is on the horizon, and I plan on giving up school and homework for the fifteenth straight year. It will also be the fifteenth straight year that I reneg on that, but it's tradition for a studying Catholic to at least attempt that joke.

Tonight was bowling night, and things went well for The Tigers. We took the first two games by a bunch, but lost the third game. Kathy Owens was not in attendance, so there was no money exchange. However, I did do something noteworthy. I rolled a 169 in each of the games tonight, earning a patch for what I think is called a triplicate series. I don't know what I'll do with the patch, but I'll have it. It will probably end up on my bulletin board with the 220 game pin and the 500 series patch (from youth bowling). And of course by the pin, which is mine, and not Rick or Werner's. It was cool because in the last game I needed twenty pins in the 10th. I went 8-spare-strike, and the strike was a bit lucky. It was nice to have this accomplishment with a 169 and not a 124 or something low like that.

I spent this weekend with Lia for the majority, and we just kind of palled around EL. Friday night, we went to the MSU hockey game (they beat Nebraska-Omaha 3-0) and then got some ice cream. Saturday we ordered a pizza at night and watched the extended version of The Two Towers. What a long film! It was good, and now we can see Return of the King together. I wonder what happens?

Spring break is in two weeks, and I have no major plans. I have possibilities that include going home, visiting my brother in Raleigh, seeing Ciofani in Cleveland, or studying...hahaha that last one wasn't serious. It will be a much appreciated but not necessary break. Well, we'll see how necessary I find it to be in two weeks. I really need to use that time to get a new computer. This beast has served me well, but unlike my L.L. Bean bookbag (which has served me faithfully since tenth grade), the computer is breaking down and spitting more and more errors in my face. The toughest thing to part with will be my song collection, which is over 425 (thanks to three recent Wesley Willis classics that I added).

The rest of the week will be spent working on Calc 2 stuff (which I found out today, that I will be doing again next year for Emerging Scholars) and studying for a Friday exam. Fun fun. Hopefully this nasty wound I have on my left foot will heal up nicely by Wednesday night and I can play underwater hockey again. Can't miss too much in a row or I'll get out of shape.

Oh yeah, and I can't wait until February is over so I don't have to read about all the celebrations going on on campus. It's not just blacks, but chicanos and native americans (or indigenous americans as they apparently like to be called). Who cares about all of this crap? Today in the State News, there was an editorial cartoon making some hick dude make a declaration that he didn't want fags to marry (that was the word used), and then the editor of the paper took up the main editorial to justify why the word was used at all, and he spoke out against derogatory uses of the word. The whole thing was gay.

Song Currently on WinAmp: "I Palindrome I" by They Might Be Giants. My cousin J.D. Ryznar inadvertantly turned me on to this band when I was younger and he let me borrow a tape of his that had a bunch of Weird Al stuff on it. Other songs from this tape that were cool were "Spider," "She's Actual Size," "Mammal," and something like "Who's that Playing the Guitar." The Giants are probably most noted for their cover of the oldie "Istanbul Not Constantinople."
