Subterranean By Design... ---Trick Knee--- 2003-11-13 - 11:52 a.m. Having ethernet in your apartment is nice, but it's rather annoying when it goes out at strange times like 11PM. It could be hours before the service comes back, and hopefully one has better things to do than sit at the computer and test Explorer every five minutes. So here is my recap of the day yesterday... --- I am becoming rather lethargic in the mornings. At least, that is, on Monday and Wednesday. Christina, my office mate, thinks it's because I missed bowling this week, and it's thrown me off. But many of us in the department have been lamenting our growing apathy towards our classwork. The one thing I have going for me is this qualifying exam. It has me studying pretty rigorously with Ahmet and I have a definite goal for these studies. Such is the problem for me. I'm not so worried about my performance in the class, because if I pass the corresponding qual, I'm money. One month left in the semester, I'm hanging on. I am also noticing the same behavior (notice the absence of the letter "u", Honors students) from my students. They are all freshmen, and are starting to hit the wall. College life is starting to catch up with them, and this is the part of Calc 2 that demands the most brain expansion...the dreaded Series chapter. My first semester of college was a real breeze. It was the second one that got to me. I had to endure the triple threat of Moye, Shtromas, and Discenza. I also had to take Bio (sleeping). By the end of the semester I was on my last nerve. The coup de grace came on the first really nice weekend of the semester, where I had to spend the whole thing in the library doing research for a Faust paper. I almost sold my soul for a C paper so I could enjoy the weekend, but I stuck it out, kept my shot at redemption, and got that C (which for me in that class was a real triumph...thank goodness for exams). So after ES I finished up my Numerical assignment and slid it under Chicha's door (fashionably two days late). I rushed home, got my swim gear, and headed back to campus for a night of underwater hockey. I was in pretty good shape, considering I hadn't played in roughly a month. TV was there...again. Apparently, this was the fifth channel to run a story on the MSU underwater hockey club. It was ridiculous. When I was getting into the pool, the camera guy was like "wait, I want a shot of someone getting into the pool." I'm sure the viewing public will be very intrigued by my descent. I only had one of my flippers on when I got in, so it must have looked pretty ridiculous. During play, my old friend, Trick Knee, reared its ugly head and gave me a reminder of my past troubles. I sat a couple of points and then played out the rest of the night. Today my knee is feeling terrible. I think I may have to see a doc and possibly get it scoped. =-( Reading another blog, I saw that a particular Hillsdale female thinks that her guy friends are wussies. Pretty hilarious, and I can see where she's coming from, especially now that guys like myself and Ciofani aren't there. Once we graduated, pretty much all the machismo vanished. Well I really don't have anything fun to write about today. Nothing really perked my interest. Because I can now, I'm including a link to Boddu's website This site also has all of the Tigers Weekly issues that I put out over the last year. Lots of fun stuff there, and a good slew of people wrote in and contributed, so it's not just all my blathering. Maybe next year I can use the blog to post my weeklys. Song Currently on WinAmp: "The Motown Song" by Rod Stewart. I'm not a huge Rod fan, but he's got a few songs that I really like, and this is one of them. For the record, I abhor Maggie May, or whatever the hell that song is called. This song really makes me feel good inside.
