No longer will I be known as Matthew O'Toole. That name carries no weight. This must be the case, because despite branding this tag on the header of every homework I turn in for my Error Correcting Codes class, the teacher, Dr. John Hall, insists on referring to me, affectionately, as Todd.
The first couple of times this happened, I was just confused. It took me a second to figure out that he was talking to me, and then I'd respond. "Did he refer to me as Todd?" "I think so..." and I'd shrug it off. Eventually I picked up on the fact that, in Hall's eyes, I was Todd. By this time, however, he had made the mistake a handful of times. So I felt that if I were to correct the man, that he'd question why I hadn't corrected him sooner, like I was being a smart ass.
So lately I have been letting it slide, and despite grading my homework and returning it to me (with Matthew O'Toole in clear print across the top of the front page), Dr. Hall keeps using the word "Todd" as a way to get my attention. And this brings snickers from three other guys in the class (two who are my roommates) as they try and keep their laughter stifled. Once Hall is done with me and he returns to the board, I can break my straight face and get a few chuckles in myself. But it can be pretty tough to keep my concentration on the question when I can hear muffled laughs coming from the guys around me.
Unfortunately, it's becoming detrimental to my image. On Monday, Hall asked Todd what eight minus four was. After a slight delay, my brain recognized that he was speaking to me.
Todd: "Uh, what was the question?"
Hall: "Eight minus four is four, right?"
Todd: "Last time I checked."
Hall: "Yeah, well you goofed that on your homework."
Now I know that I didn't make that mistake on my homework, as I only lost one point and that was for a transcription error that had nothing to do with eight minus four. So not only does Hall think that I am Todd, but he also thinks that Todd is an idiot. The time is drawing nigh where I will have to reveal my true identity and put Todd down for good. Otherwise, Big T may show up one day toting a pistol with Hall's name on it.

Today was a beast. I was at school from 9AM-8:30PM and then I spent the remainder of the evening (till 2AM) finishing a homework and writing it up. I need Daylight Savings time tonight.
Yankees are 0-1. Tigers are up half a game on them. Not bad.
Song Currently on WinAmp: "Brown Sugar" by The Rolling Stones. Considering the inuendos (sp?) of this song, it's quite amazing that it gets so much airplay. Strange that radio stations will cut verse two of "Money For Nothing" and still have the stones to play a song about Massa taking advantage of Chicken George's sister.
