First day of summer school today.
My class is a few people greater than it was last year, and the makeup of the class seems a bit different. It looks like the students could be a little weaker than last semester. It was only the first day, but they were pretty quiet when I asked them some elementary questions. It could just be reluctance to speak up.
I wasn't too nervous today. Usually I am pretty tense in front of the new students, but I felt pretty loose up there. I cracked a few jokes that drew minimal laughter. Hopefully this crowd will loosen up after a while. I'm guessing they will. I'm sure they're happy just to have an american TA. I can't imagine what the kids in Calc 2 have to go through with Jules (Tsung-Ling) running the show. He's a good guy, but it would be tough to learn that subject from him. I had enough trouble talking to him in the car tonight.
But boy, was it good to be back in action with Huseyin. The man is an absolute riot. Today I heard all sorts of wild stories from the Turkish wonder. It's amazing how much stock this guy puts in a woman's butt. "J-Lo man, I worship that ass!" That is one of his classic lines. It's a gas spending time with this guy.
Twenty-seven days of summer teaching to go. Not that I'm counting...I enjoy the summer schedule. It's laid back.
