---Stations of the Cross---

2004-04-02 - 9:06 p.m.

Tonight I attended the Stations of the Cross at St. Anthony's. It was the first time I have been to the Stations since high school, I believe.

The service ran about 45 minutes, and was run by a visiting priest from, by his accent, what sounded like India. He ran things in a business-like fashion, something I would have changed had I been in charge. This was the first time that I've gone by my own free will, and as the case usually is, it meant the most this time.

But what really owned me was the fact that I had an older version of the prayer book that was being used. So I had the missle with all the "thee"s and "thy"s and what not, while everyone else was speaking the modern vernacular. Also, some of the musical interludes were totally different, so participation was limited on my part.

Prior to the service, I had dinner at the fish fry in the school gym. It was all right, but this dinner doesn't even begin to compare to the fish at the Muskegon Catholic Central fish fry. It was all crusty and tough to put down. Still, it's a nice event for the Catholic community, which isn't always the closest knit group.

It was a great day today; sunny and warm. As I completed my last class of the day, I felt like I was on Spring Break. Sadly, that's not the case. Baseball season is right around the corner, and that has me very excited. I should be putting out the season preview for Tigers Weekly this weekend...possibly tomorrow. I do need to get all of next week's work done, this weekend, though. On Thursday, I am going to the Tigers' home opener vs. the Twins. If the Bengals aren't 0-3 by then, I'll be happy. I think they can be better this year. It's all about whether the pitchers fare better or not. Look for the Tigers to finish fourth in the division, but don't be too surprised if they hang around in the standings for a few months.

The Great Outdoors is on right now. I don't care what some self-proclaimed savants may say, this movie is a classic. The family vacation, the young man's flirtation with love, bald-headed bears, and who can forget the water skiing scene? Classic stuff.

Laundry is happening and I am being lazy. Later tonight I may head to Maggy's for kareoke.

Check out the Halloween themed comments. Reminds me of the Muskegon Heights Tigers.
