Subterranean By Design... ---Proctoring--- 2003-12-09 - 11:43 p.m. Well I had to rise early today. It was the day of the math final for all courses below 235. Since I am with a special program this year, they stuck me proctoring a Math 1825 final exam with two instructors. It was pretty useless that I was there, but I didn't mind. I didn't have to assist in any of the grading, so I felt like I had won a victory. I could complain to the graduate union, but I'm sure they'd just conclude that I should be doing more work. After that, I went to the IC with a bunch of other grads who were gearing up to grade. Not having that in my future, I was the least popular guy at the table. I studied analysis until about 5PM and then I went to Lia's for dinner, and we also watched Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. And don't worry, it was the classic version. I forgot how much I liked the Yukon Cornelius character. It was the one thing that I really remembered from the movie, where he would sink his pick-ax into the ice, give it a lick or two to test for precious metals and then dejectedly say "Nothin'." In the end, Rudolph got to lead the sleigh and the misfit toys got delivered to the girls and boys...and Christmas was not cancelled. How about the contradiciton between Rudolph and The Grinch? In Rudolph, no Santa means no Christmas. But the citizens of Who-ville do just fine without the presents. So which story is correct? If you had to choose one of the two to show your kids, which one would you pick: Rudolph or The Grinch? --- Read an article that was pretty interesting today. I wasn't aware of the environmentalists beef with chemicals like DDT, but it seems to be doing some serious harm to people, and they (the greenies) don't seem to care. Reading the cons of DDT, I think in those situations the good outweighs the potential bad. Song Currently on WinAmp: "I'm Gonna Be / 500 Miles" by The Proclaimers. All I've got to say is "DA DA DA DAHHH!" This is a great song. I've sang it with Kevin Price and Daron Garrett in front of D's window, and I often sing it with Rick Grillo at kareoke. It is always well received.
