---No, I Will Not See Matrix Revolutions!---

2003-12-18 - 12:38 a.m.

Well the day finally arrived where Lia and I were going to see the last of The Matrix trilogy. We had made sure that we were both up on the story by watching the first two, and we wanted to see the third before she left for Colorado on Saturday. So we check the net for the listings, and find that it's not playing anymore at two of the big cinemas, but was still strangely playing at a six screen theater. So after a scrumptious dinner, we headed there to catch the 6:55PM showing. Upon arrival, we fail to find the movie listed on the marquee. Sure enough, the movie was long gone from this theater as well. So we settled for the 6:45PM showing of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. It was a good film. I thought the doctor character provided some necessary relief from all of the seamanship. Many people would have probably been overwhelmed with an exclusively Horatio Hornblower-esque film, so this non-swabbie was vital to the flow of the movie. As expected, the French lose the battle in the end, preserving the realistic side of the feature. It was money well spent, but now I will be waiting until at least January to see Matrix. Hopefully I won't have to borrow Gary's Reloaded DVD again.

I cooked up some fried eggs this morning for breakfast. Eggs are not something I'm used to making, so it was a fun experience. They definitely weren't the best eggs I've ever had, but they were incredible and edible. It is a lot of fun to try and cook new stuff for yourself (altough I've learned that if you're going to cook something for someone else, it's better to try it on yourself first). I tried to study at my place today, but I left my binder at school, so I had to drive onto campus to work. While there, a Chinese guy who was in my analysis class dropped by my office to discuss things. Sometimes I have problems communicating with the foreign students because their English is pretty poor. This doesn't piss me off or anything, but it makes it tough to have a conversation and I often feel like I'm talking to them the way I'd talk to a ten year old. Also, I think a few of the guys in the department have some mental issues. Most of the women seem normal, but there are a few guys that I think could go the way of John Nash. I need to be wary not to end up like that. It's all about a good balance of work and play.

Dave "Tally-C" Talcott has a blog now. His reason is quite humorous to me, but it's not an uncommon reaction from Hillsdalians. I myself have been surprised at the number of Honors College students and other heavy thinkers going the route that Talcott refers to as "a grave error." From the minute I moved into Galloway I was on the defensive.

Reason #4216 that the ACLU Sucks.

Song Currently on WinAmp: "She's So Cold" by The Rolling Stones. This song is freaking hilarious on its own, but watch the video and you'll be rolling. In the video, Mick Jagger does his normal lunatic act, while band members look on. The funniest of the bunch is drummer Charlie Watts, who keeps the beat while rolling his eyes repeatedly at Mick's antics. The "Start Me Up" video is equally funny, and has been performed live by me and Ciofani numerous times in Hillsdale.
