Subterranean By Design... ---Movies That Bug Me--- 2004-05-21 - 11:39 a.m. So I was lying in bed last night and I was tuned in to some movie on HBO. The scene was a college party. It looked like it was taking place in a dorm. Some girl was in one of the room with a guy, and she seems wasted. Before too long, she passes out. When she wakes up, some dude (not the same guy) is going to town on her, and some other guy is filming it. Instead of getting pissed, she just kind of dejectedly lays there. I think the name of the movie was like The Rules of Attraction or something. Stuff like that bugs me. Plus, they did a lot of backwards scenes that were really annoying. For a pretty funny backwards scene, see Top Secret with Val Kilmer. It's kind of stupid at first, but it grows on you (sort of like Holy Grail). But I digress. This particular movie involves a college community where everybody is doing drugs and having random sex. Does this actually happen anywhere? Is there such a place totally devoid of human morality? Movies like this imply that such places do exist, and that does not sit well with me. Mind you, I am all for partying and having a good time, but I realize that there are certain lines that ought not to be crossed. And the drugs weren't just weed, they were everything from acid to cocaine. Seriously, does a place like this exist? Movies like these are made because something like this is going on in our society, and every time I see something like this I shed a tear for the degradation of our culture. America is in a downward spiral of morals, honor, and duty. It may not be long where our society forgets all that those before us have done and we are overrun by a more determined enemy. Look how quickly we lost our fire from September 11! In a way I blame the democrats of the last fifty years. While Republicans have held on to these values, democrats have sold these things out in order to win the vote of the lower class citizens. And by lower class, I mean those who have a slimy conscience. The democrats have supported things such as reverse racism, abortion, and homosexuality. Now I'm not saying, here, that republican leaders are squeaky clean, and democrats are terrible people. What I'm saying is that republicans at least promote the ideals of a respectable society, while the dems have to push shady morals in order to get their vote. They sacrifice the fiber of America for their power. I have a hard time believing that too many of these dems actually are in favor of what's listed. Well they are going to reap what they have sewn. The amoral and immoral may one day overrun the country. This self-centered society will be doomed to crumble, and the golden age of the United States will come to an end. I, for one, will not let these things happen quietly. These days, if you stand for good and moral behavior, you are branded a bigot, and hated by many. How ass backwards! What kind of world are we living in? I think if some of these people could look at things from outside of themselves, they'd be left with a sick feeling in their stomach. While I realize that I am not perfect, at least I can still recognize when I am doing something that is incorrect and feel conviction. When I was younger, I always felt that almost everyone would go to Heaven, because only the murderers and theives and such were doing ill. Now my outlook is a much more bleak one. People live as they please, and treat themselves as the most important being in the world. This is certainly not the way it is supposed to be. As long as these shady ideals permeate our society, I will continue to catch disturbing movies like Rules. We are on the slippery slope, and it will be much harder to climb our way back up to respectability.
