Subterranean By Design... ---Mo Money--- 2004-05-19 - 11:29 a.m. I had a surprising revelation as I reflected on my summer job. I am making about thirty bucks an hour. To make this money, I share knowledge about mathematics with other students. Back in the day of summer employment, I was making eight bucks an hour for the following: getting up at 5:30AM, cleaning nasty public restrooms, changing trash cans that had been marinating in rain water and basting in the sun, scraping dead animals off the street, and cleaning up whatever others would throw on the ground (things on this list included wrappers, diapers, clothes, and condoms). Eight bucks an hour for all of that. It just feels really rewarding to be getting paid for my brain these days. I don't look back on the old job with scorn, though. It has really made me appreciate where I am today, and gives me extra motivation to succeed in grad school. Here's to dead 'coons and overflowing trash cans. They've made me a more determined man. Song Currently on WinAmp: "Close to the Edge" by Yes. If you are low on hard drive space, I don't recommend downloading this track. It runs about 18 minutes plus. Great song though. Yes is on my list of top five bands.
