Subterranean By Design... ---Lucky Tool--- 2003-12-31 - 11:27 a.m. New Years Eve it is. I don't have any big plans to celebrate the new year, but Lia is coming back in to town and I haven't seen her in over ten days, so I should be in high spirits. Studied the last couple of days with Ahmet and finished the course material (finally). Now we'll be in problme solving mode. I feel like we're in decent shape. The holidays finished up and we did the normal bowling with the cousins on Saturday. I whooped up on my brother three games. He made some excuse about having to use a house ball, but that hadn't stopped him from talking trash prior to bowling. But the bowling happisness was ended when I returned to Lansing. Having forfeitted last week, we couldn't afford to not field three again. I figured we'd have four with Gary and Rick being back in town. Alas, it was not to be. Gary was back, but Rick was in Grand Haven and Nate was sick as a dog, so again we bowled only two and lost. It's a damn shame too, as I think we could have taken all seven points. Instead, we're 0-14 to start the second half. So much for our chances. I had my highest game of the year, a 194 sandwiched in between two games in the 140's. My middle finger was killing me. Some good times in Ske-Town with the borther. We were at the Knights of Columbus on back to back nights. The first night a few people were putting on quite a show. I've never done an all day drinking stint, and after watching this exhibition, I don't think I ever will. The next day (this was bowling day) we stopped at Tatra Hall and played cards with my grandma and her gang. I tell you, I couldn't pick up a bad hand. I won about seventeen bucks (it got kind of embarrassing after a while) and sent the ladies on their way. We had dinner at home with a few of Brian's friends, and then it was back to the Knights for some cheap drinks and cards. I was pretty unlucky until the last hand, where we played five dollar showdown with the high heart splitting the pot. Well I ended up with Aces full over dueces (yes, I had the ace of hearts) so I raked the entire thirty dollar pot, and I came out ahead for the night. At the end of the night, my brother and I started getting pissy with each other. I tell ya, after about a week of hanging out together, we're ready to be done with each other. It's probably a blessing that he's in NC. The Tigers signed Jason Johnson from the Orioles! He's a better starting pitcher than anything they had last season, and that makes five free agent signings this winter. Looks like Dombrowksi is starting to work his magic, and Ilitch is allowing him to spend a little cash. Win or lose you know I'll be going to the games and writing the old newsletter. Well the old stomach calls. I think it will be fried eggs this morning. We'll see if I don't screw them up. Song Currently on WinAmp: "Burden in My Hand" by Soundgarden. I first heard this song while watching MTV. I liked the video especially, and that always increases my affinity for a song. In the case of "Black Hole Sun" I think it hurt my love for the song. That video is freaky!
