Subterranean By Design... ---Hockey Tournament--- 2005-11-03 - 6:30 p.m. Last weekend I went on a trip with the MSU Underwater Hockey Club to London, Ontario. A whole mess of people from MSU went and we joined up with some people from the University of Illinois and we brought three teams. I played on one of the "B" teams, and the club also brought an "A" team. We rolled into London late on Friday night and checked into a Travelodge. We had a little bit of fun, but kept things low-key as we had the tournament the next day. I had bought a bottle of Captain Morgan's at the Duty-Free store, so I had a couple of drinks from that, but I wanted to be in good shape the next day. Our first game came against the other "B" team, and we came out on top by about three goals. I ended up playing back the entire day. I'm used to playing forward, so it was a change. We tied our next game and got spanked our third game. In the playoffs we beat the team that we tied 5-3. In the finals, the team that schooled us the first team gave us another lesson, so we ended up taking second. It wasn't such a bad thing given that the other "B" team went winless and the "A" team went goal-less! Saturday night we spent some time at a club having dinner and doing a little dancing. Back at the hotel (this time we rented a couple of suites) the drink was flowing and we had a lot of fun. It was not the bacchanal bonanza that is characteristic of hockey parties, but there was enough shenanigans to go around. I woke up early on Sunday...I'm talking 7AM here! Luckily the clocks had been set back, but I still woke up way before anyone else. Knowing that nobody would be up soon, I walked down the road to have some breakfast and read the paper. When I got back we headed for home, which took a lot longer than I was hoping. The trip was a lot of fun. A hockey tournament is healthy every once in a while. --- Song Currently on WinAmp: Nothing. I'm down in the living room watching Fox News.
