Subterranean By Design... ---Flip Flops--- 2004-06-30 - 10:50 a.m. The movie Fahrenheit 9/11 was released this weekend and, of course, I have some comments on the issue. First off, anyone who cites a Michael Moore film in an argument instantly loses my respect (at least during the argument they do). If you are going to argue with me or any other conservative, then falling back on Moore is about as valid to us as quoting the tooth fairy. Except I may be more prone to believe the tooth fairy...I never actually caught my folks slipping me the money, so I can't disprove the notion. Moore, on the other hand, is easily debunked. But Mr. Moore brings up some big issues. One is the "by any means necessary" issue, and the other is the "flip flop" issue. Let's go in order. Suppose you are talking to a typical supporter of Michael Moore. You can present this person with all sorts of evidence that show Moore's contradictions and hypocrisy, and the person absolutely will not care. They will continue to promote what Moore is producing in hopes of ridding W from office. So we see a total sacrifice of ethics in an attempt to acheive a political goal. An "anything goes" mentality rules the Moore base. They don't care that what they're doing is wrong, they just want their way, and they will use any trick in the book to get it. No, I'm not talking about terrorists, though the similarities are there. Also, the big movement among democrats is registering as many people as possible to vote. This is a smart political move on their part, but it's a dangerous thing. These people first are fed the credo of the hard left, and then are told to vote in the upcoming election. These people, as they have not yet registered, will mainly be quite uninformed, and won't consider the other side of the issues before November. So while Moore gathers votes for his side, he dilutes the voting base with politcal ignoramuses. Throw on top of all this that Moore is a devout socialist (just listen to him) and we have a man working against the basic principles of American thought and mainpulating the less able into acting as his foot soldiers. The media explosion could be what gets the snowball of America's downfall rolling. Secondly, let's imagine that John Kerry gets elected and the democrats control the White House. Now they inherit the situation in the Middle East. They have two choices. The first is to stick to what they're shoveling right now, which is pulling out of Iraq and that area and probably apologizing. To follow this road is to inspire terrorists to continue on their mission, so I see no way that the dems will be able to follow through on this. Right now they are pandering to the masses, giving them what they want to hear (election tactics, not outrageous). Their other choice is to stay in the region and continue the job that the Bush administration has started. This road, which is the road that I hope they would take, causes a flip-flop in policy (not that that's a real surpirse in the world of politics). But basically, all of the Moore-ites will have been duped. Will Moore get pissed off at the Kerry administration? I doubt it. Now if Kerry is going to stay and continue the Bush job, then what is the point of changing administrations? It will only make us more vulnerable as the new people have to figure out all that's going on over there. The only good thing I see out of a Kerry election is that Hillary won't be able to run in 2008. This article by Oliver North brings up a good point that the democrats are portraying the Bush administartion as the enemies in this conflict. I'd like to think that republicans wouldn't be so petty if the shoe were on the other foot. We may get to find out in six months. Judging from the way the left has been treating the situation, I believe that they would rather see Kerry elected than to see us have major success with this overseas campaign and see George W. Bush win in November. And that, my friends, is deplorable. Song Currently on WinAmp: The overture to the movie Krull is currently playing. This movie doesn't get much love from everyone else, but I am a fan. It's a heroic fantasy where the good guy takes down the enemy after an epic journey. Knight in shining armor comes to the rescue of damsel in distress, and together they defeat the beast. Ahhh, I wish all movies were like that.
