Subterranean By Design... ---Chess with Burak--- 2005-10-21 - 12:13 a.m. My buddy Mike Olson has a chess board set up in his office. I've recently borrowed the board and my friend Burak and I have been playing games on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Burak is significantly better than me and, until today, had beaten me every time we played. Today I played a hell of a game and beat him by the skin of my teeth. It was good to get a win over him, but it was a lucky win. Almost every game has resulted in a methodical win for Burak. He was about one move away from doing this again, but I pulled the wool over his eyes for a sneaky checkmate. I really enjoy the game of chess and I'm glad that I have someone to play with who is at least as good as me (in this case, he is significantly better). The only way to improve is to take your lumps from those who know what they're doing. Plus, Burak is the nicest guy in the world, so losing to him doesn't bother me in the least. Song Currently on WinAmp: Heard it Through the Grapevine by Marvin Gaye. A true classic. And you've gotta love the California Raisins.
