---Cabaret---

2004-02-08 - 6:28 p.m.

So it was another nice weekend. I got to get out of East Lansing and spend some time at home...a much needed reprieve. Lia came home with me, and we attended "Cabaret," a celebration of the musicals performed at my high school. There were many acts that were of high quality. Now I'm back and ready to face the week ahead.

Friday was an easy day that consisted of attending a couple of classes. Lia and I headed for home and drove into Nether's house to await a call from the 'rents. Lia and Nether were in a naughty mood, as they each won two games of cribbage while leaving me out in the cold. The folks called, and we went to meet them at The Station. Advice: If you've never been to The Station and you get a chance to go, then go. It's awesome. We were joined there by the Delongs and Bob Sullivan. We reminisced about some old play experiences and stuffed our faces full of food.

Saturday I got my haircut...finally. The weave had been in full duckbutt for about a week. I had been flaunting it, as I wore a baseball hat twice during the week. After Tony's we tried to watch the MSU game at the Knights of Columbus, but it wasn't open yet. We returned home to find the Spartans with a comfortable lead, and so we switched it off and talked with Sister Maureen, a friend of my mom, who was in town for the show. Sister went to Mass with Lia and I at 5:00, and then we went to the show at the high school.

I ran into a whole bunch of people at the event: Kerrin and Susie Rafferty, Jason Bertoia, Antonio Copeland, all the Fritz's, Tom and Amber Delong, Russ Gallas, Adam Ramseyer, Andrea Mathews, Liz Hinkley, and a bunch of other yos. A lot of the people that were there were performing, but there were still a good number of us that were just there to watch. A lot of the people performing were extremely talented, and it dispelled my idea that I might be biased towards the shows because I was in them. After the Footloose show that I saw at Holt High School, I figured that our shows looked and sounded amatuerish, but hearing these people made me think otherwise. Also, the sets and the costumes in our shows were done very nicely, a huge credit to the parents involved. The show did go late, however, and we got home around midnight. Dinner was excellent; a fine selection of Italian pastas (to the delight of Ms. B).

Mother prepared a nice brunch for the five of us (the fam, Lia, and Sister Maureen) on Sunday. Soon after we stopped at Nether's again and said goodbye (and picked up a few goodies). The drive back to East Lansing was bittersweet, as I have homework that needs to be done, but it was good to be getting back. I dropped Lia off, and that was that.

I did get a couple of cool pictures from Joerg today. Linked here are a group of us that play underwater hockey at MSU. There is the serious one and the funny one. In either case, I'm the stud on the end in the white hat. Joerg is the tall blonde guy in near the middle.

Song Currently on WinAmp: "I Lost on Jeopardy" by Weird Al Yankovic. This is a hilarious version of the Greg Kihn Band's (Our love's in) Jeopardy. The best is the breakdown by the announcer telling Al how much of an idiot he is. That man is a comedic genius.
